Low Sizergh Barn, Low Sizergh Farm, Kendal, Cumbria, LA8 8AE

This is a great place for tea – and more.  The tea room is above a farm shop [great fresh food] and there are gifts and crafts in the basement – which used to be a shippon – and more gifts and some classy clothes next to the tea room.

This is a working farm – you can see the cows being milked.  The building is 17th century.  You can also do a farm trail.

I enjoyed the soup with wholemeal bread, but the cakes and the lunches are good, too.

This is just south of Kendal and a great place to call in on your way to the Lakes.  Or you could combine it with a visit to nearby Sizergh Castle [National Trust].
